The Asheville Wine & Food Festival makes it possible to sample every delicious flavor Asheville has to offer. The GRAND TASTING is the largest culinary gathering of its kind in downtown Asheville. Join the Festivalians gathered to experience a riot of local and international wineries, local Beer City and area breweries, regional distilleries, restaurateurs and chefs, farmers, and artisan food producers. We will transform the US Cellular Center into a Culinary Circus. Meet farmers, chefs, cookbook authors, and artisan beverage makers, as well as select nonprofits and regional crafters. Culinary events will take place throughout the day including wine tasting and winery Competitions.

Asheville Scene Chefs Challenge 3:00 - 4:30
4 Chefs, 1 hour, and a secret ingredient. The 6th annual Asheville Scene Chefs Challenge has seen over a dozen of the region’s finest chefs fight to the finish in an Iron Chef-style battle for the title of Best Chef at the Asheville Wine & Food Festival. It’s been a competition of culinary panache that began May 1. Please join us at the Grand Tasting to experience the excitement of chefs and flavors as the final battle takes place during the Grand Tasting.

New wineries are opening every day in WNC and there is a rapidly expanding interest in growing grapes and winemaking. “Show us what great wines your cellar holds and we’ll put them to the test with the tasters of the French Broad Vignerons,” says Festival Founder and Director Bob Bowles. This is a excellent regional competition for commercial wines from North Carolina and the Appalachian region and an opportunity for professional evaluation of non-commercial wines submitted by emerging winemakers.

Join sommelier Andy Hale of Metro Wines and the Blind Tasting League as he takes you through the steps of deductive blind tasting and teach you how to tell what's in your glass! Learn how to guess the grape, vintage, country of origin and alcohol percentage, as well as brushing up on your wine tasting terminology so you can talk like a pro while you dissect the wine.
