Christopher Prieto, is an author for Southern Living, a BBQ Instructor for Wounded Warrior Project, a Master BBQ judge and a celebrity pit master. A champion pitmaster and owner of PRIME Barbecue in Knightdale, N.C. His journey into cooking and the world of barbecue began when he was a child. Fond memories of Texas and his desire to find the “soul” of barbecue sent him on a personal quest to perfect the art and science of slow-smoked meats. Today, after years of cooking on the professional barbecue circuit, Christopher believes he has finally achieved what he considers “barbecue excellence” with his own signature style that fuses together elements of Texas, Kansas City and North Carolina flavors.
Christopher has participated in The New York Food and Wine Festival, “Meatopia”, “An Evening with Master Chefs for the NC Cystic Fibrosis" and the “Polka Dot Mama Melanoma Foundation Taste for a Cure." Christopher was featured on season 5 of the TV program “BBQ Pitmasters” and published his first book with Southern Living titled “Ultimate Book of BBQ: The Complete Year-Round Guide to Grilling & Smoking.” You can follow PRIME Barbecue at prime-bbq.com.

Here is your opportunity to know what wines to shop for and bring to your table and stock you cellar.
With more than 500 vineyards in North Carolina, new wineries are opening every day and there is a rapidly expanding interest in growing grapes and winemaking. Professional winemakers and their wineries brought over 100 wines and professional judges with the French Broad Vignerons put them to the test. In our 6th year, this competition is an excellent opportunity for commercial wines from North Carolina and the Appalachian region to be professionally evaluated. Judging takes place prior the Asheville Wine & Food Festival Grand Tasting and winning wines will be displayed at the French Broad Vigneron booth during the Grand Tasting. http://ashevillewineandfood.com/2017-festival-wine-competition
